In this guide, we’ll go over how to create and manage citations using Smart Parking. Citations can either be issued as warnings or infractions based on the situation, and can be used by enforcement teams and property/territory managers to ensure that parkers are following the rules of your lot.
To begin, access the site at which you want to add or manage citations through the Dashboard or the “Territories and Sites” tab from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen, or select the “Enforcement” tab and click on “Citations”.
Once you’ve reached the site at which you want to create or edit a citation, click the “Citations” button in the site menu off to the left. This will display all past citations issued at this site.
To create a new citation, click on the “New Citation” button in the top right corner. Doing so will prompt you to fill out a form.
This form will first ask you to fill out information on the vehicle, as well as information about the location of where the vehicle was parked at the time of the infraction.
Once you’ve provided this information, you will now need to decide whether you want to issue a warning, or an infraction. If you issue an infraction, you will need to select a specific violation from the dropdown menu, as well as additional actions if any to follow up on the citation.
Next, the form will ask you to submit at least one picture that provides visual evidence of the parker’s violation, though you are able to submit up to four images this way.
After submitting your images, you will be asked to select how the citation was delivered to the parker (i.e placed on windshield or given directly to the parker), as well as provide any extra remarks regarding the citation.
Once you’ve finished filling out this form, press “Submit” and your citation will appear among the list of previously issued citations.
While you are unable to edit a citation once it has been issued, you can delete them by clicking the three-dot menu on the right side of the specific citation you want to delete, and pressing “Void Citation,” then create a new citation with the correct information.
