In this guide, we’ll go over how to create and edit new and existing units at your Smart Parking sites. Whether you need to create hundreds of individual residential units or just one to represent a store, Smart Parking makes this process simple. .

To begin, navigate to the site at which you want to create a new unit using the Dashboard, or the “Territories and Sites” button on the left-hand side of your screen.

Now that you’re at your desired site, go to the “Parkers and Units” tab from the menu on the left of your screen, then press the “Units” button.

Once on the “Units” tab, you will see a list of all existing units at this site. To create new units, you have two options - “Add Unit” and “Upload Units”. Adding units means creating new units manually, but if you want to enter many different units very quickly or have an existing bundle of units you want to import from another site, you can use the “Upload Units” button which will allow you to attach .xsl spreadsheet files to automatically generate units.

Attached to the “Upload Units” popup form is a template you can download to create a new spreadsheet of files, or if you want to transfer an existing batch of units from one site to another, use the “Export” button in the top left to create and save a spreadsheet of the existing units at a site in the correct format, then this file can be selected when choosing “Upload Units.”

For this guide, we’ll look specifically at the “Add Unit” button to manually create new units at our site.

When pressing “Add Unit” a form will appear asking first for the format you want to use. The basic format is simpler and only asks you to enter how many units you want to create.

The range format is more complicated and asks for two ranges, one for floors and one for units. The floor range can literally refer to floors in a residential apartment building, but by changing the prefix, it can refer to different buildings, areas, zones, or anything else you might want. Once you’ve entered a floor and unit range, Smart Parking will generate the range of units you’ve entered for each floor (i.e with a floor range of 1-5 and a unit range of 1-10, you will generate 10 units for each of the five floors).

By pressing “Submit” using either the range or basic formats, your units will be generated and listed among previously created units.

To see an overview of your units which gives you information about assigned residents and vehicles, press on the unit number or house icon on the left. To edit the unit, including changing the unit number, activity status, and access code used for visitor parking registration, use the blue pencil action button on the right.
