E-Chalking a Vehicle on the Smart Parking Enforcement App

In this guide, we’ll go over how to use the Snap and Chalk feature of the Smart Parking Enforcement app. Just like regular tire chalking, e-chalking helps you to keep track of how long vehicles have been parked at your lot by scanning license plates and attaching timestamps to scans you upload.

To begin, open your Smart Parking Enforcement app and click on “Scan and Chalk” from the dashboard.

From here, select the “Inventory Audit (eChalk)” button which will bring up the scanning feature of the Smart Parking Enforcement app.

Once you have the scanner open on your device, approach the plate you want to scan and stand roughly 8-10 feet away from it and press the green “Start” button at the bottom of your screen and start walking forward slowly. Once your device scans the plate successfully, you’ll see an icon appear towards the bottom of your screen with the license plate number. If you want to compare this scan to a previous scan, use the “Compare Session” button in the top right to select one, then, click on the license plate icon.

You’ll be able to see whether the vehicle has any active passes, active bans, past citations, or prior scans. The prior scan tab is where you’ll be able to view a scan if you selected one earlier, showing the time at which it was taken.

Once you’ve finished scanning a plate, you’re able to issue citations if necessary by using the “Past Citations” tab and clicking on “Ticket.”

If you’ve finished your scan and everything is fine with the vehicle, use the blue “Upload” button in the bottom left corner of your screen to save your scan to the system and allow yourself and other enforcement officers to view it when e-chalking.
